7 Things You Must Consider Before Hiring a Ghostwriter
Because it takes more than a pulse and a dictionary…
Before I became a professional ghostwriter myself, I hired one.
True story.
Hiring a ghostwriter requires more than finding someone good with a pen and some words. There are other factors you should def think about and put in place for the writing partnership to work seamlessly and successfully.
Here are my top 7, and frankly speaking, the things I’d be looking for when deciding to seek, hire, and work with a ghostwriter.
Contract
A contract should be signed by both parties before the writing project commences.
Because a ghostwriter never asserts authorship of the material they produce unless they are working as a co-author, they should be prepared to sign and adhere to the provisions of a service agreement, including the abandonment of rights. The contract should address all elements of the writing project, regardless of how long it takes.
With a signed agreement, all parties fully know their rights and responsibilities. Legal action can be taken in case of a breach of the contract.
