A Powerful Marketing Lesson From A Norwegian Donut Maker
“You can’t buy happiness but you can buy donuts. And that’s kind of the same thing.” — UNK
One of my bucket list items involved donuts.
Totally true story, but that’s for another day.
Today I wanna share a quickie about sales, understanding your target audience, and Norwegian donuts.
Yep.
Donuts.
Norwegian ones.
There’s an annual festival here on the island I’m living and working on, but that really won’t matter unless you’re from this part of the world. It’s a celebration of the centuries-long relationship between Russia (yep, I’m THAT close to Ivan!) and Norway.
So yesterday I’m strolling down the closed-off street and WHOA…I see a donut truck. Kinda similar to a US ‘food truck’ and kinda not, but we’ll just say it was a donut food truck for the sake of this blog.
I meander up to the window.
A nice young lady immediately rattles off something in Norwegian. I know exactly two words in the language.
I am definitely confused.
So then she looks confused.
