She bent me over a barrel…
You’ve heard that phrase before…right?
And no, I’m not referring to Kama Sutra stuff…
I’m referring to the times when you, or your business, are in a predicament, and upon enlisting the help of others, you may find yourself “bent over a barrel,” and hence you gotta take what’s coming to ya.
Sometimes it’s a matter of survival.
True story::: So I’m listening to a friend of mine on a business call recently. To win a specific book of business, he needed a hyper-specific type of partner. (and before you ask, YES, they required this particular partner).
So they chatted it up with said partner, and said partner knows that they’re needed. They smell blood. (hell, they prolly even made that “mhua-ha-ha” sound and wrung their hands together as Dracula does)…
The partner makes no bones about it and lists out some specific, barrel bending terms, and in doing so, they did indeed help my homie win the book of biz BUT…
They also lost a future business ally and the opportunity to partner with my friend (or his friends, or his friends-friends) EVER again.
And by the way…this was a multi-million dollar deal. Legit big fuggin money…
