that one time Santa canceled Christmas…
I just read an article about how mall Santa’s are now wearing masks in some places…
And in others, Mr. Kringle is sitting behind a Plexiglass shield…
Yet other places, the kids can sit on St. Nicky’s lap, but THE KID has to wear a face shield…
How fuggin’ strange is that?
I certainly realize that something has to give, us being in a pandemic and all.
But I genuinely wonder how 5-year-old Ricky woulda responded to a Santa behind a glass wall (isn’t that how they do the snakes and tigers at the zoo??)
Of course, I obvi don’t have to deal with that, and since my kids are all in their 20’s, neither will they…
But…
I gotta tell ya that there’s been something bouncing around in my brain for more than a few days now.
That thing is this…
Are scientists and child psychologists gonna coin a new malady based on kids who had to see Santa in a surgical mask during the pandemic of 2020?
Heck, are we about to enter into a “Twilight Zone”…”Black Mirror”…altered reality where Santa is replaced by some holographic, voiced-over…
