The Day I Gave Up

I give up.

Those three words aren’t something I necessarily said out loud, it’s more something that my heart screamed.

Out loud…

Maybe that sounds weird or even weirder if you’re reading this, but it’s honest to God’s truth.

I gave up.

And it’s the best thing I ever did.

You see, for the last twenty years, I’ve been unemployed and unemployable. That’s just another way of saying I’ve been an entrepreneur and basically self-employed.

Addicted to the startup life…

A drug that drove me…

Twenty years running now…

In addition to that coveted entrepreneur “status” is the fact that my brain has been hammered with the mantras of “hustle, work, and sweat”. Not necessarily bad words, but the reality is they can be harmful.

When they consume you…

And consume they did…

Now look…I don’t have any regrets because that mindset and mantra led to the creation of some pretty stellar things, and I’ve created a really decent (ok…BETTER than decent) life.

But the reason I gave up was that one day I kinda woke up.
