When did we become so UN-happy?

It seems like every dang blog, article, book, and even tweet is some rendition of how to find TRUE happiness. If I read between those lines, they’re saying that my happy meter is sub-optimal, non-existent, and needs some serious tweaking.

While lots of them say variations of the same thing, the fact is they’re ALL missing the point.

I just opened up Medium, and the initial barrage was about happiness, how to find it, the 5 habits of happy people, the stoic way to joy, etc…blah-blah-blah…

Some say shedding extra weight is the key…

Like not literally body weight (though that could work), but more accumulation weight. The blanket we shove this under is called minimalism.

You know…get rid of “stuff.” Physical stuff shouldn’t matter. We’re too weighed down by tangible things and not practicing enough non-tangible things…which brings me to the next crock.

That people who meditate are happier…

Whhhaaaaaatttt?

I’m not knocking meditators, but the question we need to ask is what prompted a person to take up meditation to find inner peace and happiness in…
